What does regular tempered glass actually protect against?
It is a sacrificial layer: the first surface a drop, a key in your pocket or grit on a table meets, so it takes the scratch or the crack instead of your screen. It is not indestructible — a hard enough impact can still crack the glass itself — but it is what breaks first, and it is a lot cheaper to replace than a display.
Does regular glass change how the screen looks?
No. It is the one finish with no surface treatment — no etch, no tint, no coating beyond the standard oleophobic layer every finish gets. Colour, brightness and sharpness read exactly as the display was calibrated.
Will it slow down touch response or gestures?
No. At 0.33mm with full-surface adhesive, there is no air gap between the glass and the panel, so swipes, taps and haptics all read through at full speed.
Is regular or matte better if I am not sure?
Regular, unless you specifically want less glare or fewer visible fingerprints — it is the finish that changes nothing about how the screen already looks, which makes it the safer default.
