How to apply tempered glass without bubbles.

Clean the panel, seat the alignment frame, drop the glass from the centre, press the edges. The frame in every pack does the positioning — your job is dust.

  1. 01 Clean the panel
  2. 02 Seat the alignment frame
  3. 03 Drop the glass
  4. 04 Press the edges

You will need

Glass sheet, cut for your phone

Alignment frame

Alcohol pad + microfibre cloth

Dust-removal sticker

All four are in every pack. Nothing else is needed — no water, no spray, no card.

Step 01 of 04

Clean the panel

Wipe the whole screen with the alcohol pad, then dry it with the microfibre cloth. Hold the phone up to a window and look across the glass: any speck you can see is a bubble you will not be able to press out. Lift it with a dust-removal sticker — dab, do not drag.

Tip: Work indoors with the fan off. Moving air is what carries dust back onto a clean panel.

Step 02 of 04

Seat the alignment frame

The frame in the pack is cut for your phone, not a generic size. Lower it over the device so it registers against the frame edges. There is only one way it sits flush — if it rocks, it is on backwards.

Tip: Keep the phone on a flat table. Fitting in your hand is how the glass lands a millimetre off.

Step 03 of 04

Drop the glass

Peel the backing film off the adhesive side, hold the sheet by its edges, and lower it into the frame from the centre. Let go. The adhesive wets outward from the middle on its own — you should see it spread in about five seconds.

Tip: Do not press the middle. Pressing traps air at the edges instead of pushing it out.

Step 04 of 04

Press the edges

Run a thumb, through the cloth, along each border once. Lift the frame straight up. Small bubbles at the perimeter clear on their own within 24 hours; a bubble in the middle means a speck of dust underneath, and the glass has to come off.

Tip: A bubble that will not go is a dust speck. Lift the sheet with a card, sticker the speck, drop it again.

What goes wrong

Four ways a fit fails, and the fix.

Fitting it in your hand
The glass lands tilted. Table, frame, then drop.
Pressing the centre first
Air gets pushed to the edges and sealed in. Let the adhesive spread itself.
Skipping the dust sticker
One hair is one permanent bubble. The sticker takes three seconds.
Peeling the top film off first
The adhesive side is the one under the numbered tab. The other film comes off last.

Questions

Asked at the counter,
answered here.

How long does it take to apply a tempered glass screen protector?

About ten minutes, most of it cleaning. The drop itself takes seconds because the alignment frame does the positioning.

Can I re-apply the glass if it goes on wrong?

Once, carefully. Lift it from a corner with a card, remove the dust with a sticker and drop it again. The adhesive survives one lift; after that, use the next sheet in the pack — which is what the pack is for.

Why is there a bubble I can’t push out?

Something is under the glass. A bubble that moves is air and will press out; one that stays put is dust. Lift, sticker, re-drop.

Do I need to re-register my fingerprint after fitting?

Yes, on phones with an under-display reader. The sensor calibrates to what it reads through, so delete and re-add the print once the glass is on.

Will the protector fit inside my case?

Yes. Every sheet is cut to the active display area, not the whole front face, so the case lip stays clear.
